It seems to be the final stage of the installation process - I noticed there's a slight delay after accepting the T&Cs while the Vodafone Homepage is downloaded.
Farewell to my plan to use another carrier's SIM for installation then. I guess I'll have to live with it.
Thanks to you both for your input.

Maybe Opera Mini connects to the servers during installation and sets the Vodafone Homepage ?
Nope, it's other way around, during (or just before) installation process there is a bind between opera mini servers and HTTP headers forwarded by your operator; in this matter IP range and DNS is the key for localization (the best connection can be established in this way) and 'campaign' detection and so some speeddials particularization + splash screen and thats it, no harm done (as you can see on 'debug:' page).

Probably. It happens at runtime too.
I have Opera Mini 7.1 Symbian on my N8 with a T-Mobile USA SIM. Opera Mini was unbranded as long as I used it in the US.
Several months after installing Opera Mini I used the phone in Mexico with a Telcel SIM and Opera Mini became Telcel branded and Telcel Speed Dials where added.
Even four months after returning to the US and putting the T-Mobile SIM back in Opera Mini is still Telcel branded. It doesn't bother me as the Telcel Speed Dials are deletable.
