problems setting opera mini as default browser

I recently downloaded opera mini to my blackberry 8520, which is great browser and I want to set this as my default browser on my BB.
I have checked every site, forums, utube, even a little Chinese man whose supposed fix everything regarding mobiles and no luck.

This is what I've tried so far (unsuccessfully)....
I went into options-advance options-browser-and my default browser is set at hotspot browser with no other options to change it.
Next I tried clicking on the browser (the one that looks like a globe) pressed options and it show
1)browser configuration
2)general properties
3)cache operations
4)gears settings

I went into browser configuration and browser set as hotspot, then scroll down the page and browser ID is firefox, start page is home page, and home page address is google.ie...........Is it in this sectons that its possible to switch the default to opera mini as its not doing it for me.

I am not set up on a BB/BIS data plan.

Any one any suggestions , I would appreciate
