Last post by ornsman: Yes there is a way to back up your bookmarks, the simplest is to choose the phone's own option to back up application files. On a nokia this is might be saved as a .NBF file or an .ARC file (possibly others) depending on what system is on your phone.

If you want to get into the nitty gritty, then I can tell you this:

for the java version (.jad/.jar) of Opera Mini 4 -
  • on my Nokia S40 device the files are all stored in the folder I run the app from, the bookmark file is the one that ends in _m_b100.rms
if you're not running it off your memory card the file will be in a system folder
    something like \predefjava\predefcollections
  • on my Nokia S60 the files are hidden in system folders, if you've installed to your memory card you may be able to access via USB
for me the folder was E:\Private\102033E6\MIDlets\[101ae50c]
in there is a folder called \rms, the file you are looking for will look like _b_1.rs

for the java version (.jad/.jar) of Opera Mini 6 -
  • again it will be in a folder like E:\Private\102033E6\MIDlets\[101ae50c], inside a folder \rms, the file you are looking for will look like _b5f_2.rs
if you've not installed it to your memory card, it will be in the similar folder on the C: drive, which will not normally be accessable...
  • not sure how it stores on a Nokia S40 device

for the native symbian version of Opera Mini 7 -
  • you'll see the named opera mini folder in E:\system\apps, inside a folder \ds, on mine the file was titled file107574.

for the native symbian version of Opera Mobile 10/11/12 -
  • although the program files are stored at E:\system\apps, the data files are actually at E:\system\data
inside the named opera mobile folder there is a file called OperaDataStoreV2.dat
this in fact holds all the user information, speed dials, history, bookmarks etc

I have personally found you can drag & drop these files to backup/restore old bookmarks no problem.

Worth noting these files are full of gobbledegook if you try to view them in a text editor however it is possible to find those bookmark titles & urls in there when you look. It would be good to have some technical information on the file format, or possibly some sort of tool to view them from a computer.
