I believe ur right about settings but I've been there, done that;
* i'm slightly confused (yeah, right..) here. My confusion may/may not lead 2 a fix or worse, but should at least b followed thru. U say u believe im right about settings, but also state u "been&done", so it seems those bases been covered thus NOT right (unless u missed some element within those settings aspect. I'll assume not). So i realize also, that when i was replying 1st time i didnt quite notice all the several diff peeps posting w/apparent same issue as u & so when i mentioned trying 4.4 it was in re: to othr guy who said he had 4.2. So u didnt say (or i missed?) what version u r using. Regardless, yes/no...u have tried diff versions? Also, not familiar w/phone offhand (but it cant be 2much more of a lemony sort than my rumor touch) but i mentioned a possible carrier involvement in this. My carrier (VM) did so much to choke off the abilities of my model, that w/o the "fix" (to accept apps) & a browser like om, i should like to be there w/you for close encounter w/bricks. But you didnt say (again, hope i didnt miss someth) if u indeed did outright ask ur carrier about them having any culpability. After all, u DID say that u can connect via native goofy browsa, which im sure wud never b workable enuff2 allow u2 eat as much BANDWIDTH as u could/would w/opera mini, right?....so question needs coverage.....altho come2 think of it, dont see how/why wi-fi would bother ur carrier, unless it was THEIR wi-fi. So that angle prolly moot, but should ask then anyhoo, as it could be some unintended, needing 2b corrected, glitch in config.
Also confusing is u say phone sorta blew up when tryin stuff previously, but ur also (at the same time) lamenting on how u cant remember what steps were taken. Do u mean so as to avoid same 2 happen again, or that u had found some benefit in the tweaks but cant remember? Im thinking that covering those bases might lead2 someth?
also, didnt hear u say whether u could connect via mini w/o wi-fi, using cellular?
as to the lost bkmrks, had u been linking/sync-ing or no? Ive been working on solutions 2 the losses of bkmrks, speedials and saved pgs, that so many users report. 1 thing u can do, so as 2 not have2 depend on mini, as to bookmarks worthy enuff 2 not wanna lose, is to copy/paste/save the url's 2 local memory.
