Yes, you are right. Note that without placeholder that image can't be downloaded in mobile view (no mouse with mini4) and in desktop view (with a desktop type of user-agent) all images will be loaded with original (large) placeholder but miss the download option. It's clear now why image representation jump over orginal image view and fit to width without any scalar data. Usually this kind of issue occur mainly on sites with web hosting services for images.
