I suppose my issue would be under the same category so I didn't want to open a possible duplicate thread. I too have issues with gmail in Opera Mini 7.1.
Phone: Sony Ericsson Zylo (W20i)
Browser: both integrated and Opera Mini 7, though I currently use only Opera Mini
Issue: Until this morning I was able to comfortly browse my email in Opera mini and in what I believe was the mobile version of the gmail site. There were checkboxes to the left of the mail which I could use for multiple delete. Below the inbox were the delete button and a few more buttons I can't remember since I never used them, as well listed the categories I enabled for viewing.
Everything worked perfectly fine but this morning when I logged in, the checkboxes were gone as well ANY and ALL managing options - no delete button, no option for preferences, nothing. Not even the botom link for switching between mobile and regular.
I've tried the following:
- reinstallation of Opera Mini - no results
- loggin in then typing in the adress bar the following: mail.google.com/mail/h - no results, in fact, it redirects me again to the useles interface from which I can only read mails
- trying to access it from google - no results
- typing in the adress bar: mail.google.com/?ui=html - now, THIS redirected me to the basic HTML UI I can usualy use on my laptop but it is NOT the UI I used up until yesterday. While it offers the necessary managing options it is not compact and suited for mobile viewing at all.
The issue persists in the integrated browser as well. I am really at my ends wits because the UI was really perfect for my small phone. The mails were displayed in a compact form where - in fact, on closer inspection, I am sure it WAS a mobile version because they were displayed in the same way as they are now, except it also had the checkboxes and managing options below.
I tested this issue by downloading and installing Opera Mini 4 - and behold, gmail is perfectly displayed in the same view I've been using for years.
So, any ideas what the bug is? I'd like to continue using OM 7.1 since it is more user friendly, especiall since I can see the cursor and point it to what I want which makes the whole issue of mobile browsing a lot faster. In OM 4 there's no cursor and I have to use the down arrow to scroll from checkbox-to subject-to next checkbox etc.
I posted this issue on the gmail forums as well, but since the issue isn't present in the OM 4 i believe it is a very annoying OM 7 bug.
