0.9 Kb is probably the JAD (Java Application Descriptor) file, the rest is the actual JAR (Java ARchive) containing the Opera application is 1.8 Mb. As for freezes while downloading, it is the way BlackBerry behaves when downloading and installing applications. Try any other large program (from App World or downloaded from a Web site), it will probably do the same. So nothing to worry about.
