So let me add.. does any1 know: why, when i try to dwnld jad/jar set, (using uc browser) that the resulting files both say they are 284 bytes? I didnt bother tryin2 install as no doubt wont work. I tried the dwnld from the listings (of 6.0) found here in the forum & from the link the blogger guy left. I didnt take notice if his link came from same list as former, but afaik, downloading the avail. 6.0's via ucb isnt working right. I guess i should go back & see if they list what sz ea file is, but i rather doubt that avail. listings for 6 (as scarce as they are..) are corrupt. Seems far more likely that the problem w/the jad/jars points to my phone/my carrier/uc browser.
I have successfully dwnl'd jad/jars in the past & done successful installs & working apps (even repaired corrupt jads), but as far as i can remember (w/any certainty) such was always done having done the downloading & the jad repairs (most likely) using my laptop & internet & transferrring to sd. I permanently (at least til now) lost use of my pc & internet approx 1 1/2-2 yrs ago & have been forced to depend on this phone for all computer & net functions, since. I remember way back, doing alot of work on trying to make this phone as "standalone able" as possible, esp w/regard to getting & fixing jad/jar apps. I had certain files (and apps), in that regard, which were lost (as backup files) when pc died for good. Those files (and apps) were also backed up w/a clone or ghost of entire pc drive (on a standalone drive) but that backup file refuses to open on another obtained pc. Point being that it is next to impossible, w/only this phone, to dwnld/repair(if nec)/install apps, w/only the handset. I know that recently successfully installed a modded ("BD") version of 6, via jad/jar, but i dont know if it was from a successful dwnld of the jad/jar set via this phone, or (more likely) the jad/jar was possib left in my APPS folder from an old (pc downloaded & transfered to sd) or i also couldve recently added to APPS folder from a long stored fileset on sd card.
So i need to know to get the jad/jar files properly dwnl'd or, how to fix the issue of "284 bytes ea file". I only want to see if i can re-install 6 & possibly recover some important saved pgs & bkmrks. I also wanted 6 in case the "connection problems issue" didnt improve on "next", so i might be able to use (as a "parallel") on some occasions, or until i could ascertain that some latest version of 7 is simply better OVERALL! Once to THAT point, i would just ditch the 6, up to latest 7 (and keep "next" as a standby).
I didnt know that this was gonna happen to my 6 and/or that accomplishing above was gonna be such a trying & impossible (so far) set of tasks. Soon tho, i'll be forced to drop the quest (for 6 & that data) & just put in 7.1. But i try not to give up too easily...
