Let's get the team working on this. I would guess and say that whatever changes occurred at Engadget itself, the redirects at Opera have to be manually reconfigured.
The phone's native browser has no trouble accessing engadget.com, and when doing so, it automatically goes to a mobile-style (WAP) site, with no visible URL change in the address bar.
