*[i have no idea what u mean by "too heavy for
dwnld"?? If u know for sure what ur talking about.. then please elaborate and/or validate that. Its a 69mb file..whats such a big deal about that? Where/who/what...does it say that such a file sz is "too heavy" (i assume u must mean size of file, as i dont know what else "heavy" might mean).

I used to dwnld files much larger than that, when i had 6.0. I have looked & searched & asked...what, if any, is the dwnld limit for mini next java. No one EVER has responded to the question. I found somewhere in the mini notes, that the upload limit is 63mb, but no mention of a dwnld limit. Tho i think it wud be a reasonable assumption...that if upld is 63, that dwld would be SIGNIFICANTLY higher, no? (plus, files much smaller than this, are also no longer able to get dwnld'd).

The poster b4u, reported having no such issue w/his stuff....]

"...and at least two problems can occur /when you use
3g (only)..."

*[huh?...what are u talking about?....i reported having NO PROBLEM dwnlding the 3g file (no clue what "3g (only) means. The file i spoke of (and linked) is an .avi file. Besides, the issue i reported inclds the detail,a that as far as ive been able to ascertain, this problem only seems to be related to SIZE of file, not file type. I would be very interested to know about any difference it makes, when attempting to dwnld a file, what TYPE of file it is, at least when its an allowable filetype. For ex, to my knowledge, mini doesnt allow dwnld of .jad/.jar files. If that is correct, i have no idea why not, but wud luv to know the reason, however if there is a reason, maybe related somehow to what you're talkin about?]

"...with limited bandwidth somehow opera mini can boost dl speed from ~45kb/s to ~55kb/s..."

*[i didnt say anyth about dwnld speed (so not sure how that relates to my issue?)...but when i can dnld something, i dont think it has ever been as hi as above noted speeds. How would i even know the speed anyway? Mini doesnt show any listed speed of dwnld. I suppose you could use a timer & calculate, or some app? UC browser does show the speed & the fastest ive seen was a few days ago when i downloaded a 192mb file, averaging about 40k/s (according to their guage...but it didnt seem to be accurate when i looked at the numbers & did the math. Omini has never (for me & my stuff... delivered speed like that, tho i understand it may be CAPABLE of it. Again, i didnt say anyth about speed.]

"...and sometimes fails if dl 'chunks' doesn't work like a clock..."

*[i THINK i might understand some level of what u mean by this... when u say "chunks", (packets?), & maybe THATS what ur reference to "too heavy" was about??? If so, i can understand how that might slow things down, but not how it would/could/should PREVENT dwnlds from even starting in the 1st place, which is what i reported & have a problem with. Also, if somehow that (chunks/packets..?) thingy was the cause, then why wouldnt it matter what file (per allowable files) type or happen w/smaller, but still sizable files? It just doesnt "seem" to be whats happening... Simply put, small files (of any allowable filetype...[the only ones i know of not allowed by mini are .jad/.jar] ), approx under 20megs, start w/o too much problem & only seldom fail in middle; 20-40 or so, increasingly (w/size) fail to start w/o repeated attempts, the larger the more trouble. (never see any relation, in above, to filetype); 40-50 only very rarely able to get to start; & beyond that, forget about it...just impossible & time to go to uc.]

"...(perhaps only last bandwidth is readed and doesn't work progressively) //depends on device..."

*[i dont fully grasp what ur trying to tell me here, but i know maybe "just enuff" to sense that maybe you "have something" (bandwidth reading/progressive/device)... B U T .... that said, fact remains that i never had a problem when 6.0/6.1 still worked for me AND the only changes (on my side) was going to (forced to) mini next, where this issue began & got worse (since early sept til now) AND that there HAS BEEN a lg # of downloading issues/complaints, that i saw (in same time period w/same versions of 7) repoted in the mini forum.]
"... also, e.g. media mp4 video file coded for ipad (resolution) - same file downloaded with k800i can be opened as mp4..."

*[i fail to see relevance of any of this? This is about downloading inability and/or failures, not about what can open or play. My phone opens & plays appropriate rez 3gp/mp4, but i dont see what this has to do w/ability of mini to dwnld files?]

"...from music player and with j10elm only video withot sound - even if that doesn't include an error, ..."
*[???]

"...device capabilities feels related and that's why is better to use a memory card with all stuff already in it transferred from your PC...."

*[i can only dwnld via phone as i have no other internet, nor can tether.]

"...Btw , s60 CorePlayer can open that file only as sound so is more than 1008x1008 video size...."

*[it was listed as a 720 rez. I dont think that is reason for ur lack of video. They play for me & this phone is, i think, a 240x400 rez phone? Besides, what does that have to do w/dwnlds not being able to start?]

:headbang:
thx for ur response
