Well i couldnt believe it...after all that time & effort & diggin & searching (both opera forums & net searches) & all the help ive offered, i couldnt even get someone to just zip the .jad/.jar (which i even provided a link to). But the some good forum goer told me of a good online converter able to provide the neccessary zipped jad/jar set. Turns out that i was wrong & didnt need that for any virgin moblile sanctioned/allowed app. I DO need it for any 3rd party apps NOT vm sanctioned. I never realized that in the case of the "allowed" apps (such as official ominis) all i needed was to click on the jad link & BOOM!... the omini got sent my way, to application folder & ready to install. When i tried to install, 6.0, which iwas an automatic overwrite, it installed w/o issue; but when i tried to open, same perpetual 80% hang problem. Subsequent tries w/6.0 & 6.5 resulted in same. So it sorta abstactly occurred to me that some "support" script or code that governs or somehow facillitates the apps placement or "seat" or along those lines...bcame corrupted, not the app itself...and so i figured the way to possibly eliminate that possibility would be to delete the orig & do a fresh reinstall. Bingo!
I definitely recovered at least SOME of the lost data re: bkmrks and/or saved pgs, but hard to say exactly how much or what did/what didnt, cuz so much time (near 4 mos quest) had passed & along the way (like you, i lost 6 & replaced w/next) i remembered bookmarks & saved pgs to & replaced some that way, plus some forgotten, etc, but in the end, there seemed to be at least some recovery.
So then, w/that task finally outta the way, i no longer had anything to keep me from finally upgrading to 7.1. Not only did most of bkmrks (some maybe didnt & some came from??) tranfer, but most if not all of the saved pgs as well, which, being a whole new number upgrade (6 to 7) was surprising. Some had to be "updated" (or recoded ) for 7.1, but many did not. Surprising & a relief. the ones that had to be updated were the 15's (from 6) & the no suffix # (from 4.4). All the rest mustve transfered from a still existing "mini next" still installed, or more likely, from the 7.xx coded .obml files that reside on my card from "next"? (but i didnt think it should, at least w/ requiring updated, since it went from 1 ver to another. Hard to say. It all bcame spread too thin & over time, to keep a handle on it. Bottom line tho, i ended the 6.0 problem, as well as the need for it anymore (but still can always reinstall if the need arose), somehow retained/gathered enuff of my bkmrks & saved pgs to be satisfied w/it & finally moved on to 7.1 contrary to what some have said, i still experience connection problems & download problems w/7.1. Getting hi % of no connect popup dialog boxes, however retries usually work 1st or 2nd time. Download problems manifest a little different but still very problematic & iffy & huge # of failures BUT what makes a huge difference in ability to deal with or overcome that, is the resume. That makes possible (even if takes huge amt of time) to capture what b4 could not be done.
Ironically, all above will soon be moot issues, at least in terms of the phone & platform im using, as the phone has taken on too many problems, some inherent & some due to age, wear & tear & it has bcome close to unusable. The near 3 yr experience of the amazing (in terms of good & bad elements) little device known as a vm rumor touch, vm's 1st foray into the "almost" or "wannabe" smartphone arena, was an awesome experience (esp since coincidentally, it also had to bcome a total substitute for a broken pc & loss of internet ever since). But now i had little choice but to move on when i saw 1/2 price w/VM on an htc evo v 4g (same basically as evo 3D). Not only a real smartphone, but a hi level one & finally...android! I already have it & getting acquainted with but wont be activating for awhile, til i know how to work the dang thing. I can see already tho, that its an amazing thing. Guess i'll be maybe having a whole new set of andriod/omini related issues (from what ive seen here on forum, but hopefully mostly better).
As to all the great detective work u did re: "seek & destroying" the corruption issue u had w/6 (GOOD JOB!) & w/o getting too deep into it, basically, i dont believe i had the same abilities as you, w/this phone, to go into the system, as it were & do what u did. The apps on this phone are all in a non accessable, in phone configuration. I belive special tech prgrms are needed to get into it & even then, virgin mobile tightly locked down much of the systems of the phone & mostly all proprietory also. There may be access somehow to app files & then correcting/rewriting stuff is another issue, using only the phone, but i couldnt find such access to that data, like you. But you did indeed confirm what had been suggested to me re: corrupted files associated w/6.xx AND u FIXED! (unfortunate, losing the data. wonder why?).
Thanks for your great posts about it. I shall save it if i can for future reference for "next victim"!!
Android, here i come...(the 3D screen is way cool..)
