I too also experienced a problem with using Opera mini on an HTC tablet here in my office that uses opendns...when i take it home or use 3G it works just fine. After some trobleshooting and reading a post on opendns someone suggested I add opera-mini.net & opera.com to the whitelist (never block) under the opendns settings. Once I made that change and waiting about 10 minutes I was able to use Opera without any problems on my office network.
This is what worked for me, so if you are using opendns give this a shot.
